Dancemaster Workshop Poster 2011

Not sure what to do about this evenings dance classes and would like some advice whether to cancel them.

I know all the schools are off today, will everyone assume there’s no dancing? Is it worth the trip in the snow? Or will people come to dancing knowing I don’t live to far and wouldn’t have a problem getting there and would like a break for 1/2 hour or so from their kids?

The fete starts at 1pm and we will be dancing at 2.30pm. As you come into Llanover you will see the fete signposted on the right hand side and directions for car parking etc.

Anyone wanting a practice before hand are more than welcome to come to my house (as long as you have permission) either 2moro before 5pm or Sat am before 12noon. I will try to be at the fete (in the car park area for approx 1.30pm for anyone wanting a quick practice.

You will obviously need to wear you Dancemaster blacks with your hair in a high pony (unless you have special permission not to or hair too short).

Yesterday I received a call from the X Factor production team inviting us to do Line Dancing at the Cardiff auditions being held on Monday 18th June 2007 at the Millennium Stadium.

Unfortunately I cannot take everyone to this event as they are only looking for about 10-20 dancers. This is potentially a huge opportunity for the whole of Dancemaster School of Dance and at such short notice I am looking energetic, smiley pupils with the ability to pick up routines EXTREMELY quickly and execute them PERFECTLY with a lively bubbly personality. We will only have one day to train and get this RIGHT!

You will need to be available all day on Sunday. We have to be in Cardiff at approx 5.00pm, we will be catching the train so you will need train fare (approx £3.00 for juniors) and obviously a bottle of water. We are not getting paid for the event.

Auditions will be held Sunday am at 10.30 and finish at 12 noon in Bailey Park, behind the Scout Hall. We will then have a 30 minute break where you can phone your parents, eat and have a break, you are not allowed to leave the park unless you are being picked up. For the chosen pupils, 12.30pm is when the real work starts. We will not be stopping until we have finished, I hope to be finished by 6pm. This is a long day, get a good breakfast inside you and bring food (NOT JUNK) and plenty of water.

You do not have to wear your Dancemaster uniforms for the auditions and training as you will be needing it clean and fresh for Monday but if you could still wear black that would be great if not please ensure that you have appropriate clothing and footwear.

I know that events we do are normally done by the whole school but this time I am unable to do that, I apologise now if you are not asked to go this time. There will be other events and other opportunities for you to strut your stuff at, it does not mean you are not good, different events require different dance styles and different types of people.

Sorry for the inconvenience and I look forward to seeing all you Thursday dancers and cheerleaders next week.

This year the Miss Abergavenny/Carnival Queen and Princesses Competition is again being sponsored by local music school Mayzmusik, and will be held on Friday June 1st at 7.30pm at Nevill Hall Sports and Social Club.

The judges will be looking for a confident, outgoing young lady with a lively personality who will enjoy being centre of attention and who will be willing, with a chaperone if necessary, to attend various functions and charitable events throughout her year as Miss Abergavenny/Carnival Queen.

Candidates for Miss Abergavenny/Carnival Queen should be 14 years of age by 14th July 2007, which is Carnival Day. All candidates including those younger than 14 years of age will be eligible for the title of Princess, and two Princesses will be chosen to attend the Carnival Queen on Carnival Day.

All candidates should dress as for a sophisticated evening out. There will be dancing to a live band and candidates will parade in front of a panel of judges and be interviewed by the Master of Ceremonies to aid the judges in the selection process.

To make it an evening to remember, all the young ladies entering the competition should bring along family and friends to support them.

The winners will receive vouchers to spend at a local fashion store, and on Carnival Day will receive special pampering as befits a Queen and her Princesses!
